The first comprehensive coverage of the people and their lives in Mathinna, once the third largest town in Tasmania. The daily lives of the people were affected by the fluctuations in the gold mining industry in Mathinna, 1850s – 1930s, in particular the New Golden Gate Mine which produced nearly 90 % of all the gold mined in the area.
