A teenage boy is pursuing a career as an airline pilot when his mother-his only close family-is killed in a plane crash. He stumbles alone into young-adulthood only to discover he has cystic fibrosis. His condition becomes life-threatening and when a lung-transplant donor is found, he has no choice but to fly to a hospital to get there in time for surgery. He wakes mid-flight to discover everyone else on-board is unconscious and he-thanks to the medical O2 keeping him alive-is the only person with any chance of landing the plane.
